Call Your Reps

Look up your representatives here.

Why calling your representatives matter!!!!

As a Marylander, you hold real power. Reaching out to your federal and state representatives can make a serious difference. If they don’t hear from you, they won’t know what matters to you—and may play it safe or miss the mark entirely. Just because someone has a “D” next to their name doesn’t mean they’ll automatically vote the right way.

Don’t ignore your local legislators. Your state Senator and Delegate shape the laws that directly impact your daily life—from education and healthcare to criminal justice and environmental policy.

All of your representatives need to hear from you—whether it’s to feel supported or to feel the heat. When they know the public is engaged, they gain the confidence (or the pressure) to do the right thing.

If you’re happy with how your representative is doing, take a moment to thank them. Most of the time, they’re fighting tough battles with little backup. Knowing their constituents have their back can be the fuel they need to keep pushing.

Legislation doesn’t move itself. Lawmakers have to persuade their peers to vote the right way. If they can say, “My constituents are flooding my inbox about this,” it makes a powerful case to colleagues. And if your representative is dragging their feet, it’s a lot harder to ignore an issue when their phones won’t stop ringing.

Bottom line: whether it’s support or pressure, most of them aren’t used to hearing from you. They want to stay in office. When they know you’re watching—and willing to vote accordingly—they start to pay attention.
